Summer and Facebook

Summer is in full swing around the farm!

That means....

Watermelon for dessert

Water trough swimming pools

Misters on the animals

Lots of grilled dinners

Early early morning chores to beat the heat

and a cicada sirenade at night.

Speaking of grilling out, you should totally try wrapping some asparagus bundles with our fresh bacon rasied right out on our farm. Sprinkle it with a little salt and pepper, use a toothpick to hold it together, throw it on the grill until the bacon is nice and crispy, and you are in HEAVEN. It's delicious and happens to be one of our favorites right now.

(Grilled Thick Pastured Pork Chops, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, and Asparagus Bundles wrapped in Fresh Pastured Bacon....A-mazing!)

We keep reminding ourselves that WE ARE RUNNING A MARATHON when the task of setting up a new farm seems daunting and overwhelming.

This is not a quick sprint.

If there is one underlying theme to farming that we've learned over the years it is this- farming requires patience. The fruit that your labor produces is often not visable until the next season or even the next year. In a modern society that is all about things being faster, this was a hard concept for us initially.

The new farm store is getting a facelift and more power! We expect it to be open within the next few weeks.

We've officially conquered the monumental task of getting each and every single animal moved over to the new farm.

Thank you for being along for the ride and growing with us. We continue to press forward with grateful hearts for each of you! We are loving the new farm and can't wait to see some of your faces here this summer!

I'll end with a shameless plug to "Like" us on Facebook! It's often much much much easier to upload photos and write things connecting us to our customers on Facebook since most of our time is spent in the pastures with a cell phone in hand and not near a computer. So head on over to our Facebook page and "Like" us HERE. Thanks for the interwebs L O V E!

Yonder Way Farm is on the move!

Dearest Farm Patrons,

We wanted to let you know about some exciting changes up ahead for Yonder Way Farm in hopes that you will share in our excitement with us.

Over the past 5 years, we've had the blessing and privilege to be able to farm on family land in Brenham, TX. Most people our age only dream of farming since obtaining land is typically out of reach. Our time in Brenham has equipped us and help shape us into who we've become as farmers and as a family.

If an analogy could be applicable here, we'd compare our time of farming in Brenham to being in “college”. We've been able to study, learn, grow, fail, and explore the world of farming in such a grace-filled and sweet way.

Through this whole endeavor, we've been blown away and in awe at the response from those in our community and surrounding areas who have chosen us to be their farmer. We've grown beyond our wildest dreams thanks to each of you and your faithful support.

This brings us to our exciting news! Yonder Way Farm is moving to Fayetteville, TX!

We've had the opportunity to transition from farming on family land in Brenham to our own 40 acre homestead complete with a farmhouse, barn, storefront, and a guest cottage in Fayetteville. We fell in love with this small, quaint, and rural community just 30 minutes south of Brenham. Fayetteville is near some of our most beloved places and in the midst of beautiful countryside.

We're in the middle of transitioning which includes packing and unpacking a family along with the animals, barns, store, and all of the other bits and pieces that help a farm run. Things will still go on with business as usual with our regularly scheduled deliveries. We're still waiting for more power on the new farm to get the storefront up and running here. The store will hopefully be ready at the new farm in Fayetteville for order pick up by the end of the week.

As you can imagine, these past few weeks have been crazy to the max. This is by far one of the most challenging things we've ever done logistically speaking. There have been many sleepless nights since chickens tend to roost at night and, therefore, must be moved at night.

But, we remain so grateful with the fondest of memories and experiences from the farm we are moving from. Yet, we press forward in hopeful expectation and excitement as we nest and settle in at our new farm in Fayetteville.

We look forward to continuing our vision of farming alongside the new community we now live in. Our passion will remain to operate in a transparent and sustainable way. We desire to be a hospitable farm by hosting events like “Open Farm Days”, “Dinner and a Movie”, and new events that are in the brainstorming phase. Fayette County is a gem that is full of culture, events, and attractions that continue to draw people and cause them to fall in love with “Small Town Texas” all over again.

As for the farm in Brenham- the farm will be placed on the market in just a few short weeks by our family who owns the property since they are relocating as well. If you've ever been out to the farm in Brenham, you have seen the beauty that lies within the rolling hills. There are 2 houses, swimming pool, barns, 2 ponds, a metal building, a covered working pin, a solar well, irrigated pastures, and 94 beautiful acres. If you would like more information on the Brenham farm, you can email DebraClick@esmartmed.info.

The animals seem to be liking their new home and we are settling in nicely to our 100+ year old farmhouse. There is still a lot of work to be done to revive this old farm and bring back to life what this land was originally used for. But, we are up for the challenge and couldn't be more excited about it.

We can't thank you enough for growing with us this far. As we plant deep roots in Fayette County, we look forward to seeing this next season of farming unfold and getting to know those of you who faithfully support our farm by choosing us to be your farmer. The reward lies within getting to put the food we raise directly into your hands.

Come and pay us a visit at our new farm in Fayetteville!! If you have any questions leave them in the comments section! We'll close with some photos of the new farm.

With Thankful Hearts,

The Yonder Way Farm Family

Chicken Shortage::: Important!

We greatly apologize for the shortage of chicken these past few weeks.

This is due in part to the amazing amount of growth that we've received over these past few months.

As a small farm we have to wait to see a consistent growth pattern before implementing an increase in production.

The GREAT news is that we've seen a consistent pattern, taken note of it, and are increasing our chicken production to meet this demand. We want to be able to supply ALL of your poultry needs.

We ask for patience with us as these chickens will not be ready for 2 months. We have them in the pastures foraging and doing what they do best, but they are only 4 weeks old.

We will continue to fill all of the orders on a first come first serve basis. We ask that you please continue ordering from us how you normally would.

And above all, THANK YOU! We are so appreciative of this growth. Thank you for growing with us!

We will never cease to put on thankfulness for your support and spreading the word about our farm.

Bluebonnets and Clover

The bluebonnets are in full bloom this year. This is a drastic difference from the bluebonnets not making an appearance last year due to the drought and not enough rain. We are enjoying them so much. The farm has lots of drivers that pull over on the side of the road to take photos of the chickens and pigs out in the bluebonnets.

The smell of clover is one of my favorite smells. When I think of Spring, this earthy fresh scent floods my memory. Clover abounds in the pastures and bluebonnets blanket the ground with vivid blue.

Reminders are everywhere within creation that Spring is indeed here. Spring is a time for a fresh start. In the world of farming you reflect on the past in hopes of implementing a vision for the future.

Here is some of the beauty that fills our pastures this time of year. Enjoy!
